Create a Voice Reel

a practical course
with Zach Cantrell

student recording a voice reel

In the voice acting industry, no one asks you where you studied or how long you've been in voice acting. You don't need to belong to a union or be registered as a voice actor anywhere.
You don't even need experience.

People will choose you because they like what they hear.

So you need a great voice reel.

Get a reel & start applying for jobs

In this course, you'll discover how you can create a voice reel on your own, from home or in a recording studio.

You will get:

  • Support finding the best scripts for you (and the work you want to book).

  • Guidance on how to find, book and work with a recording studio.

  • Professional feedback on your performance of the scripts so it shows skill and variety.

  • Support from the group and teacher throughout the course with everything you need to walk away with a reel you can share with the world.

How it will work:

  • In (or before) the first session, the teacher will hear your voice and your voice acting ambitions

  • He’ll help you find scripts that suit your voice and goals (or create new scripts for you)

  • You will practise and get professional feedback on your readings, so you can book those future jobs.

  • During that time, you will also work on either setting up and recording in your own home studio or contacting a professional recording studio and booking a session.

  • You will get the teacher’s guidance and support on both of the above.

  • During the course, we’ll also have a WhatsApp group to share work with the other students, get feedback and support others so you never feel alone in this.

  • In the last session, you will come together again to play your finished reels, get feedback and discuss a plan for your next steps.

A note on recording and audio editing:

This course doesn't include recording space coaching or audio editing training.

You'll need access to a soundproof space with a decent microphone, or be ready to book a recording studio. Zach knows a lot about recording setups and will give you specific feedback on your results, but he won't have time to coach you through setting one up from scratch, so come prepared or have someone who can help.

For editing, you'll need either some existing skills or to have booked our Editing Sound in Audacity course. If you book it alongside this course, you get it at 50% off.
